| 47436 | How to configure a dial-in modem on Sun Fire[TM] V120/V100. | 4 Oct 2002 |
| Status | Issued |
| Description |
1.) Install the Hayes compatible (modem that responds to 'at' commands) ONLY on Port B (ttyb)
of either the Sun Fire V120 or V100.
Note: There is some concern about Port A providing a DTR signal, so use Port B.
2.) Configure the modem cable in accordance to the pinouts below.
RJ45 Signal Modem (DB25)
1 RTS 4
2 DTR 20
3 TXD 2
4 Sig Grd 1
5 Sig Grd 7
6 RXD 3
7 DCD(DSR) 8
8 CTS 5
3.) Using Admintool, configure the modem for bi-directional.
If unable to run Admintool, add the following ttyb line to /etc/saf/zsmon/_pmtab.
Restart SAC.
# VERSION=1
ttyb:u:root:reserved:reserved:reserved:/dev/term/b:b::/usr/bin/login:120:38400:ldterm,ttcompat:login\: ::dialup:n:#Modem - Bidirectional
4.) Using TIP, configure the actual modem for dial-in.
This will also sync the modem with the computer to avoid garbage logins.
# tip -38400 /dev/cua/b
