A READ BEFORE YOU BEGIN... The SQ3105 is an ATA compatible drive. Observe static-discharge precautions: Keep the drive in its static- shielded bag until you are ready to complete the installation. - Do not touch the PC Board or I/O connector pins. - Always handle the drive by the edge or frame. Never apply pressure to the PC Board or the top cover. Use a grounded wrist strap at your workstation; if unavailble, ground yourself frequently by touching the metal chassis of the system before handling any components. Provide anti-static padding on all work surfaces. Avoid static inducing carpeted areas. Drive Configuration ------------------- The user must select the drive features that are appropriate for installation in their system. This is done by way of configuration jumpers found on the drive PC Board. CMOS Configuration (ATA Systems) -------------------------------- Basic information about the drive must be entered in the host system CMOS. The number of heads, cylinders and sectors per track are specific to each drive and collectively define the drives "geometry". CMOS configuration is system dependent and is usually accomplished through a keystroke or combination of keystrokes during the POWER-ON sequence or a utility such as setup after the system has booted. Default Drive Geometry ---------------------- SyQuest ATA interface drives translate their physical drive geometry's. If the drive types offered by the CMOS does not support the numbers of cylinders, heads and sectors and your system does not include a "user-defined" drive type, then select a drive type which is less than or equal to the capacity given in the "Capacity" section.
